    Mission

    The mission of ILCHWA is to unify and represent the collective voice of its members. Its goal is to advocate, promote, and sustain the Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce throughout Illinois.

    Vision

    Illinois Community Health Workers Association (ILCHWA) serves as the unified representative voice for Community Health Workers statewide.

    ILCHWA advocates for legislation and policies that enhance the role of community health workers, establishing them as the primary link between community residents’ needs and the resources necessary to address a wide array of health and wellbeing determinants.

    The association focuses on enhancing the collective abilities of community health workers, contributing to their welfare, security, and sustainability.

    ILCHWA operates as a statewide clearinghouse and repository for professional standards, legislation, policy, research, and promising practices.

    It promotes the professional development and certification of its members to ensure high-quality care and coordination.

    ILCHWA addresses workforce issues across various workplace settings, including professional identity/classification, compensation, and working conditions.
